PORT ANGELES, WA — On November 1, MTRWESTERN officially takes the wheel as the new operator of the Dungeness Line, the vital intercity bus connection between the Olympic Peninsula and SeaTac Airport. With a commitment to local service, safety, and comfort, MTRWESTERN brings significant upgrades to the route, including a brand-new fleet, bike racks, and an added express schedule – all aimed at delivering a smoother, more reliable experience for passengers.
The Dungeness Line, part of the Washington State Department of Transportation’s Travel Washington network, connects Port Angeles, Sequim, Discovery Bay, Port Townsend, Kingston, Edmonds, downtown Seattle and SeaTac Airport. Under MTRWESTERN’s leadership, passengers will enjoy the care of passionate Pacific Northwest-based drivers, modernized vehicles, and enhanced support for commuters, veterans, students and visitors.
“We’re proud to bring a local touch to a route that’s so important to the Olympic Peninsula,” said Jeremy Butzlaff, President of MTRWESTERN. “Our office and operations are based in Seattle and our team lives and works in the communities we serve. From new equipment to thoughtful scheduling, everything we’ve done is designed to improve the daily rider experience. It’s about getting people where they need to go, comfortably, reliably, consistently and with the care they deserve.”
“The Dungeness Line is a critical connection for rural and coastal communities, providing access to jobs, education, medical care, and transportation hubs,” said Nina Stocker, Program Manager for Travel Washington Intercity Bus Lines. “We’re excited to partner with MTRWESTERN to build on that legacy with improved reliability, more flexible service, and a locally rooted approach to customer care.”
