TRAVELING WITH KIDS

Family travel made easy.

Traveling with Kids

At MTRWESTERN, we welcome families onboard and are committed to making your trip safe, comfortable, and stress-free. Whether you’re riding with infants, young kids, or teens, here’s everything you need to know about fares, seating, ID requirements, and unaccompanied minor travel policies.

Traveling with Children

We support onboard child safety seats when space allows. All children must be accompanied by a passenger age 17 or older, unless traveling under our Unaccompanied Minor Policy.

Fares & Discounts for Children

Under 2 Years of Age:

• One child under 2 may travel for free with a fare-paying adult (age 17+) if seated on the adult’s lap.
• If a separate seat is required for the infant, a discounted child fare must be purchased.

Ages 2-16:

• Must travel with a passenger age 17 or older.

Child Safety Seats

Families are welcome to bring and use child safety seats onboard for children under 2 or any child requiring additional support.

• To guarantee use of an adjoining seat for a car seat, purchase a child fare ticket.
• If a bus is full and the extra seat was not reserved, drivers may require you to hold the child and check the seat.
• Safety seats must be secured by the parent/guardian using manufacturer-approved straps or webbing.
• The seat must be approved for use in motor vehicles and installed according to manufacturer instructions.

Cross-border & State Restrictions

• Children under 2 years of age may not travel unaccompanied.
• Children ages 2–16 may not travel into or out of the U.S. unless accompanied by someone age 17 or older.
• Certain states may restrict intrastate unaccompanied minor travel; please check Travel Alerts for any current notices.
