PETS POLICY

Traveling with service animals.

What you need to know before boarding with animals.

MTRWESTERN is committed to providing a safe and comfortable ride for all passengers. While pets are not permitted onboard, we do welcome passengers with disabilities who travel with trained service animals.

Service Animals

Service animals are allowed to travel on MTRWESTERN buses under the following guidelines:

• The animal must be trained to perform a specific task or service related to a disability
• The animal must remain under control at all times, either on a leash, harness, or in a carrier
• The animal must ride within the passenger’s space, either on the floor or on the passenger’s lap
• Service animals may not occupy a seat or block the aisle

MTRWESTERN drivers may ask:

• Is the animal required due to a disability?
• What task or service has the animal been trained to perform?

Animals Not Permitted

• Pets, including dogs, cats, birds, or small animals that are not trained service animals
• Emotional support animals and comfort animals that do not perform a specific task
• Any animal that exhibits disruptive behavior or poses a direct threat to the health or safety of others may be refused transport

Traveling with Psychiatric Support Animals

Psychiatric service animals that are individually trained to perform a task related to a mental health condition are permitted under the same guidelines as other service animals.
