Baggage Policy

MTRWESTERN is proud to offer reliable scheduled bus service with generous baggage allowances to make your trip smooth from start to finish. Whether you’re bringing essentials for a weekend getaway or gear for a longer journey, we’ve got the storage capacity to match your needs.

Below you’ll find everything you need to know about what you can (and can’t) bring on board, how to pack it, and what to expect at the stop.

Maximum 5 total bags per passenger.
Fees apply for all additional checked bags and are non-refundable.

*Dungeness Line and ODOT POINT Eastern Route buses do not have under the bus baggage bays or overhead storage. Rack storage is provided onboard for luggage.

Bag Tagging & Transfers

Baggage tags are required for all checked bags—available from the driver or at staffed ticketing locations. Please label your bags clearly with your name and contact info, inside and out.

You are responsible for transferring your own bags when changing buses. Assistance is available upon request for guests with disabilities, seniors, or families with small children.

Bicycles

Bringing a bike? Fees apply per bike. Bicycles may be checked underneath the coach and must be stored in a secure travel case made of canvas, leather, or similarly durable material. Size and weight limits still apply.

Strollers & Carseats

Infant strollers and car seats can be checked at no cost and must be tagged before being stored under the bus. If your child is under 2 and sitting on your lap, they travel free. If occupying a seat, they may be eligible for discounted fare.

• Suitcases
• Duffel Bags
• Toolboxes
• Sturdy cardboard boxes (taped and closed)

NON – Acceptable Bag Types
• Plastic or paper bags
• Bags with loose or protruding items
• Overstuffed or torn containers

Prohibited Items

For your safety and that of your fellow passengers, the following items are not allowed in carry-on or checked baggage:

• Firearms, explosives, or weapons of any kind
• Flammable materials or hazardous chemicals
• Hoverboards or electric scooters
• Alcohol in open containers
• Lithium batteries (must be carried on, not checked)
• Sharp objects like box cutters, saws, or large blades (may be permitted in checked bags—ask first)
• Valuables like laptops, tablets, cell phones, or prescription medications in checked bags (carry these on)

Tips for a Smooth Trip

• Keep essentials and valuables with you at all times
• Arrive 15 minutes early to tag and load baggage
• Have your ticket confirmation ready if filing a Lost Baggage Form

Liability & Responsibility

MTRWESTERN is not responsible for lost or damaged baggage. Passengers are responsible for tagging, securing, and monitoring their belongings. Baggage must comply with all size, weight, and content restrictions outlined above.
